Erase Lines and Wrinkles with Botox

Find out how Botox could be all you need to take years off your face.botox

Are you sick and tired of looking so tired all the time? Do you think that if you could only get rid of those annoying crow’s feet or laugh lines that you would be able to get the refreshed look you crave? If so, then it’s time to talk to our Aberdeen, SD, dermatologists at Aberdeen Dermatology Associates about whether Botox is right for you.

What is Botox?

Botox is a great non-surgical and non-invasive way to reduce the appearance of certain lines and wrinkles of the face for the short-term. Take a second to smile, laugh or frown in the mirror. The lines and wrinkles that appear when you make these facial expressions are the exact ones that Botox will be able to handle.

How does Botox work?

When Botox is administered into certain muscles in the face, it temporarily stops the muscles from contracting. How? Through the use of a purified form of botulinum toxin A. This safe yet effective neurotoxin works by paralyzing these muscles impermanently.

How is Botox administered?

Botox is administered through a series of very small needles, which are placed into the surface of the skin and the muscles. We will only place needles in the area or areas you wish to treat. The great thing about Botox is that it can be performed in only a matter of minutes and there is absolutely no recovery time. It’s great for someone who wants to refresh their appearance but doesn’t have a lot of time to schedule a more in-depth procedure or cosmetic treatment.

Will it hurt?

Most people think of needles and get a little worried. We are happy to state that our patients tolerate Botox injections very well. Sure, you may feel a slight pinch or sting when the needles enter the skin, but this is so short-lived and the results are well worth the mere seconds of minor discomfort. If you are still a bit nervous about getting needles, we can apply a numbing gel to the area prior to getting your injections (this way you really won’t feel anything).

How long will my results last?

It’s important to keep in mind that Botox is only a temporary treatment. Lines and wrinkles will not be smoothed away forever. Of course, you can maintain results for longer by getting follow-up Botox treatments every six months. Talk to our Aberdeen skin doctor about how often you should come in for subsequent treatments to maintain results for longer.
