Younger Looking Skin with Juvederm

This nonsurgical treatment can quickly lessen the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds.

When we’re children we can’t wait to grow up and be an adult. However, once we’re adults we long for that youthful, wrinkle-free skin once more. We’re all looking for ways to turn back the hands on the clock to make ourselves appear younger. While sun protection is one of the best ways to protect against the harmful and aging effects of UVA and UVB rays, often times people are already coming into our office with sun-related aging. If you’re looking to get a more radiant and smoother appearance that also looks natural, then Juvederm might be the best option for your cosmetic needs.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is the only FDA-approved dermal filler that lasts up to one year with only one treatment.

What does Juvederm treat?

Juvederm is injected into the skin to correct moderate to several facial wrinkles and lines. Juvederm particularly targets wrinkles around the nose and mouth, instantly smoothing out lines and folds. Juvederm Voluma XC is also available for those over the age of 21 that are looking to improve volume loss around the cheeks.

What should I do before my procedure?

Some doctors will tell you to avoid taking aspirin or any NSAIDs, as they can cause excessive bleeding. They can also cause bruising at the injection sites. Talk to us before your appointment to see if there are any medications you should avoid before treatment.

Also it’s important that you share your full medical history and tell us about any allergies you may have to medications. Medication-related allergies are particularly important for us to know about, as some allergies will mean that Juvederm won’t be the right option for you.

What is the procedure like?

This nonsurgical treatment is fast, with the injection itself only taking about 15 minutes. This makes the procedure easy to fit into your schedule. A topical anesthetic may be placed around the injection site to numb the area prior to administering the Juvederm. Once the Juvederm has carefully been injected into your skin, you’re procedure is complete. Since there is no general anesthesia or sedation, you also don’t have to worry about side effects or feeling groggy after your appointment. You can go back to work, pick up your kids from school or run errands.

Are there certain things I should avoid after treatment?

While Juvederm makes it easy to receive treatment quickly and walk right out the door without side effects, we recommend that you avoid strenuous activities, alcohol and extended time in the sun or heat for at least 24 hours after your procedure.

Is there a recovery period?

Some patients experience swelling, redness, tenderness or discomfort; however, this is only temporary and will clear up within a week. Ice packs can help alleviate inflammation at the injection site. Call us if you have any concerns about post-treatment symptoms.
